Ways to Make Your Home Fall Cozy
It’s fall, and that means it’s fall clean-up time. Now, fall is a great time to freshen up your home and organize all of those fall decorations (and winter decorations in my case), but I find that sometimes when I come in after work or school there are too many things on my mind to keep the fall-spirations going. To remedy this, I have fall cleaning times where I take some time out of my day to focus on one specific area of the house and get it up to fall standards. For instance, today there was a pretty big spider in our living room so I spent some time clearing all of the winter decor from that room and got it all up to fall-ready.
So, here are some fall cleaning ideas that you can use to keep your fall-spirations going!
Clear out the fall decor from the summer areas of your house
This is probably my favorite fall cleaning activity. So many fall decorations look so sad throughout the summer months just sitting in a dusty corner of the basement, but fall cleaning is a great time to bring fall back into your life. Clear out those fall decorations from the winter storage and put them in their appropriate places around the house!
Get rid of fall holiday decor that you don’t want anymore
This is another one of my favorite fall clean up activities because fall clean up is a great time to get rid of any fall holiday decor you don’t want anymore. Get rid of fall ornaments that were gifts that you never use, fall candles that give off a weird smell (hey, that was me with the fall candles last year—I thought they were pumpkin-y enough but I hated the smell), fall wreaths that fall apart (or fall wreaths in general since they can be so overpowering) and fall wall hangings that you just don’t like anymore.
Do your fall fall cleaning early
Especially if your fall fall cleaning is to make room for the winter decor, do it before the snow comes! Once fall is over and the snow comes, it’s going to be really difficult to clear out your fall decor.
Make fall cleaning a fun activity
Since fall cleaning is a bit of a chore, make it a fall family activity! Have everyone pitch in and help get rid of fall decorations that no one likes anymore or organize fall bed sheets or fall curtains.
Fall fall cleaning doesn’t have to be a daunting task for you! Clear out fall decor that you don’t want anymore, get rid of fall holiday decor that doesn’t fit your style anymore, clean fall decorations throughout the house and make it an enjoyable experience with family. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy fall with fall fall cleaning!
